We Have 3 Months Left Of Full-Time Travel… Then What?

We left for the road in October of 2021. When we fly back from Europe at the end of April, it will have been 2.5 years.

Our son was 2 when we left. He is 5 now 🤯

We feel like the luckiest people for what we’ve gotten to do. I am not the same person I was when we left and I’ll be processing and grieving the end of this for some time.

Here are our last few stops on the official ‘Big Trip’:

  • February - The UK

  • March till Mid-April - Nice, France

  • Last 2 weeks of April - bucket list Mediterranean cruise 👏🏼 (with my parents!)

I cannot even believe it’s almost over! We are trying to balance two big things right now - enjoying the end of this and planning for the future.

Paris is always a good idea

All of this brings me to now. Wrapping up is so bittersweet. We are looking forward to having child care, our bed, less moves and our own things. But we’ll miss SO much about full time road life.

And that brings me to what my friends and family actually came here to read: what’s next?

So, here it is: We are going to be spending the next 1-2 years in Charleston, SC. We have family in Charleston and lots more within a few hours of there. Rohry will attend a Montessori school and we cannot wait to be near family and the beach. Kyle and I are still running our small businesses - Podcircle and Virtual COO. ‘Settling down’ will only give us more time to grow those!

BUT….

That said - we have been bitten by the bug. Don’t expect that we’re ‘settling down’ for good. Our goal is to set up our next home to be rent-able while we travel each summer and for part of the winter (and yes, we’ve already talked to Rohry’s school about this and they are game). You can take this family off the road, but it’s in our bones. We’ll be back!

A big congratulations to the family members who have been working on this for a while. I thought I’d be convincing you all to move to us, but here we are 🤣

What do you think? Anyone surprised?
