It started in 2016 as a dream we came up with on date night.

What if we just packed up our things into storage and lived on the road in short term rentals? We could stay in each spot for 1-2 months to learn the area. We could work from home and explore on the weekends.

That dream lived with us for the next six years. We’d go on to buy a home, have a son and grow our careers.

But, like so many people, COVID changed a lot. I worked from home for 6 weeks and fell in love with it. We had to trade off childcare during that time and this dream started growing again. That is, after the initial fear of 2020 passed.

Over the next year, we would continue to talk about this off and on. Our mentors told us this was the time - our son wasn’t in school yet. My husband ran a business he could do from anywhere.

I just had to quit a six-figure job and figure out how to work from home on the road.

Which is exactly what I did in the summer of 2021. I left my job without a plan. We sold our home. I started Virtual COO. We left our things in storage and have lived on the road ever since.

One of the goals we had when we left was to show people this is possible. We aren’t wild, adventurous people. We aren’t the people you hear about living on the road and say, “oh, that makes sense”. In fact, my best friend from college responded, “really??? You??” When I told her.

And I love it. We aren't crazy people. We just had a dream and we made it happen. You can too.
