We’ve lived on the road for over a year… here’s what our next year looks like

We left for the road in October of 2021. Traveling full time has been a dream come true. We honestly love it and don’t want to stop.

I mean, listen. There are days. When you travel with a 4-year-old and both parents work, it’s a little crazy some days. But overall, it’s a total net win. We’d tell anyone to do it (if it sounds fun to you).

The first leg of our trip was a dream. When we made our ‘dream list’ of locations about 6 years ago, we never figured we’d hit almost all of them. Here is where we’ve been so far:

Boston Commons in the fall

Boston Commons in the fall

·      Sandestin, FL

·      Salt Lake City, UT

·      Lake Tahoe, CA

·      Balboa Island, CA

·      Vancouver, BC

·      Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

·      Montreal, QB

·      Providence, RI

·      Boston, NY

I’d go back to any of those places right now (ok welllll maybe not Tahoe, but it’s only because I’m sick of snow). They’re all great in their own way and one of these days I’ll give you all my lists of things to do and favorite places.

But today is an update about the future, so here we go.

As we got to the end of 2022, we realized a few things:

We were tired

We needed a break

But we didn’t want to stop traveling

Downtown Vancouver, BC

So, with all those things in mind, we made some plans for 2023 (and beyond).

First, we needed a little rest. We’re doing that now in Salt Lake City. By the time we leave, we’ll have been here for 4 months and it’s been nice to have a bit of a routine – although, all 3 of us are a little antsy for our next stop. The freaking relentless snow doesn’t help for me!

Salt Lake City has been on our short list of places to possibly end up and and/or have an Airbnb one day. Especially for Kyle – this place is a skier’s paradise. I’m not as convinced about living here full time (because of the aforementioned relentless snow and winter vibes), but we do like being back here for a bit!

Two other things we decided on for this year: longer stays per city and EUROPE! We’ve been working on booking up our coming months (aka, scrolling Airbnb listings relentlessly), and we finally have the rest of the year booked! Here is our plan, held with a lot of excitement and also held loosely… because you never know.

But as of now…

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York City

·      Summer of 2023 is in Vancouver Island – we LOVED Vancouver and can’t wait to try the locals’ favorite vacation spot. We are trying out 2 different cities on the island this summer

·      August of 2023 includes a quick stop in Nashville for doctor appointments, friend meet ups and storage change outs

·      September of 2023 is in Charleston, SC. My parents and sister live there and we are spending a month because my sis is having a baby!!! Also, we’ll get to see a lot of family before…

·      October – December of 2023 we’re heading to England! And I literally dream about it everyday.

·      Christmas of 2023 is very likely in Lisbon, Portugal.

·      January of 2024 is in Chamonix, France. Chalet in the valley for me. Ski season for Kyle, of course.

·      February – March of 2024 Is TBD, but our short list includes Italy, Portugal, Italy, the UK again, Italy, Spain and Italy. Can you tell what I’m leaning toward?

So there you have it, just a few casual Airbnb bookings. I cannot wait for these cities! And listen, if you ever need Airbnb booking suggestions, your girl has spent about a million hours on their site. I got you.
